Members Elected by Area Associations
Having sailed all my life in and around Brightlingsea and being a life long member of both Brightlingsea Sailing Club and Colne Yacht Club I have just completed 4 years as Commodore of Brightlingsea Sailing Club and am currently its President. I have recently been made Chairman of BaCASA and seek to represent clubs within the Blackwater and Colne on Eastern Region Committee.
Richard Card represents the Norfolk and Suffolk Boating Association, of which he is Chairman. He represents RYA East on the East Anglian Marine Safety Sub-Committee of the MCA. Richard is also a member of the Great Yarmouth Port Company Community and Maritime Liaison Committee and a number of Broads-based committees. He has been involved in boating for 60 years, on the Broads for the last 40. Richard's principal boat is an Albin 25 motor cruiser but he and his wife also have a couple of dinghies which they sail on a non-competitive basis.

Jonathan Coone represents the Royal Naval Sailing Association (RNSA) East.
I am the Eastcoast RNSA representative. I have been in the RNSA for 10 years, and sail an Moody 33s from Brightlingsea. I was formally a Royal Marine but now am a computer programmer.

John represents the Association of Nene River Clubs and says he started sailing on a ditch with a friend in a punt rigged with potato sack sails! Later he joined Peterborough YC and acquired a National 12 in which he admits to occasionally winning races. He was Commodore of PYC from 1971 to ’73 and has looked after the coffers as treasurer since 1986. He’s been an RYA Shorebased Instructor since 1976. Now he sails a Westerly Storm out of the Deben at Woodbridge.

Brenda Read represents HASA (Harwich Area Sailing Association). Brenda and her husband joined the Orwell Yacht Club at Ipswich in 1964 and sailed a Halcyon 23. Fourteen years later, they bought a Westerly Centaur which they cruised to France, Belgium and Holland; they now own a Westerly Berwick. Brenda has been a committee member at the OYC for six years and has been social secretary organising music events and cruises-in-company. She was a Flag Officer for a further four years and is now Commodore and Chairman of HASA".

Ken Wickham is the chair the Crouch Area Yachting Federation which represents the sailing clubs within the Crouch Harbour Authority (CHA) remit. He sits as the Chair for the Advisory Committee of the CHA and as a full member of the CHA and the Chair for the Roach Area Fairways and Conservation Committee. He is a Committee member of the Roach Sailing Association and Treasurer of the Roach Mooring Holders Association. He sails a Weston 8500 out of Paglesham and races a small dinghy.
Doug MacEwen is Hon Secretary of the Crouch Area Yachting Federation (33 Clubs and Associations) and in addition is:

Geoff represents the Great Ouse Boating Association(GOBA), which in turn represents boat owners on the rivers Great Ouse, Cam, Lark, Little Ouse, Wissey and associated regional waterways. Established in 1958 it now has over 3000 active members.
